Seko Fofana was at Paris FC and FC Lorient’s youth system before making a switch to Manchester City in 2013.
The midfielder spent a year with the Citizens’ academy before he was sent out on loan to Fulham and Ligue 2 side SC Bastia between 2014 and 2016.
Pep Guardiola arrived at the Etihad in 2016 and the 26-year-old was allowed to leave the Premier League winners for Udinese on a permanent deal that summer.
The Ivory Coast international spent four seasons in Serie A before returning to France in 2020, when he joined RC Lens.
The former City academy player’s displays for the Ligue 1 side has seen him linked to clubs in France and across Europe. Last week, Le10 Sport reported Newcastle United continue to follow him.
Mendez went on to detail how hard working the player was during his time at Lorient. When providing further details, the advisor went on to discuss what Fofana learnt from his time at City.
“…Seko is well surrounded, family, relatives, advisers, then we must not forget that he left at 17 for Manchester City. He discovered the ritual there. Training starts at 10am, but players must come at 8am for work, breakfast, treatment,” Mendez said.
“At Udinese, he discovered the recovery part, I take care of my body. He also discovered this Italian way, because there he spent the day at the training centre, to take care of his body.”
