There’s a few days left of the transfer window, so that means it’s Leander Dendoncker time.
For the past few windows it’s seemed that just as Premier League clubs approach their deadline, the Anderlecht midfielder-turned-defender comes back into the picture.
In previous windows it’s ended up with transfers falling apart at the last minute, and the player being left disappointed.
Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg has a look at the situation in their Tuesday edition. The player’s agent Christophe Henrotay is said to be ‘currently negotiating’ with Crystal Palace, and Wolves are also named as a potential destination.
There’s no claim of talks with Wolves yet.
HBVL claim Marseille made a €19.6m offer for the player, but behind that bid was ‘dubious investment fund Doyen Sports’. He didn’t want to become a ‘play thing’ for the company.
‘The Dendonckers clearly want to take matters into their own hands’, explains HBVL, and are pushing for Anderlecht to sort out a move.
It’s hoped Henrotay can ‘come up with a solution’, and Crystal Palace are said to be prepared to pay €15m.
When the 23 year old saw a transfer fail in the winter market, it was reported in Belgium that Anderlecht would accept €15m in the summer. Perhaps they need to stick to that and let the footballer get the move he’s long wanted.
