Both needing a striker for two very different reasons, as things stand, Everton and West Brom are reportedly after the same target.

We say ‘as things stand’ because, as you well know, in the transfer market, things can change very quickly, and so do the needs of clubs.

West Brom seem rather content with what Solomon Rondon is doing up front for them, but their issue is cover for him, with very little depth in the position since the departure of Berahino.

As for Everton, the very likely departure of Romelu Lukaku in the coming months means they are going to need a replacement, one that knows the Premier League well and doesn’t need a lot of time to adapt.

According to OwnGoalNigeria, who spoke to one of Kelechi Iheanacho’s agents, both clubs have targeted the Manchester City striker this summer to fill those gaps, and he could do either.

Moving to Everton would certainly be a move that would guarantee him regular first-team football, but would also be surrounded by a lot of pressure, having to fill Lukaku’s rather large boots.

As for West Brom, he would certainly provide a very healthy and strong competition for London, while also giving Tony Pulis a plan B in case the ‘bullying the defenders’ approach doesn’t work.

All in all, both clubs are well suited for Iheanacho, and with up to 15 potential clubs interested in his services, he’s going to have to make a decision.

Five of those 15 have already made bids, and the agent hinted both Everton and West Brom could be part of them.

More to come, undoubtedly.
