Fotospor have claimed Fenerbahçe are chasing Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia ahead of the summer window

The Turkish club have changed their transfer strategy for next season and, according to Fotospor they are chasing players from relegated teams, and they’ve somehow stretched that to include Aston Villa.

Aston Villa failed in their bid to return to the Premier League, which has encouraged Fenerbahçe to move in on Kodjia.

A slightly stretched out plan.

Fenerbahçe are hoping they can get him on loan and they’ve already made their first offer, report claim Fotospor. The Turkish giants are restricted in the transfer market due to FFP implications, and have been looking to bring in players on loan.

Their failure to qualify for the Champions League means their situation hasn’t improved, and subsequently they are targeting players like Kodjia.

Fenerbahçe need to rethink this idea. Their plan to play vultures with relegated sides, doesn’t stretch to Villa. The club bought Kodjia having already been relegated, it’s not as though he’s on Premier League wages which Villa are desperate to rid themselves of.

The player’s ankle injury, and that he likely won’t be fit for the start of the season, isn’t even mentioned.

Let’s hope these are just Turkish media reports and not actually Fenerbahçe’s transfer strategy, because it could get embarrassing.
