Nicholas Jackson was close to joining AC Milan before eventually ending up at Chelsea this summer instead.

That’s according to his agent Joe Kamara, who has commented on the player’s move to Stamford Bridge and the fact he could have ended up elsewhere.

The 22-year-old Senegalese forward joined Chelsea in a €37m deal at the beginning of July after a strong finish to last season with Villarreal had put him in the spotlight.

He was one of numerous players to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer as part of their continued spending under Todd Boehly and co.

At 22-years-old he is very much one of the players Chelsea are looking to develop for the future, the hope being he could develop into a star down the line.

The forward has so far shown signs that will be the case, becoming a first-team regular under Mauricio Pochettino and impressing early on with his pace and work ethic.

Those traits, plus his ability to put the ball in the net, had earned him admiring glances at Villarreal and his agent has confirmed AC Milan were also keen.

“It was very difficult to include him in a big team,” he told USCatanzarocalcionews’s live YouTube broadcast, relayed by Pianeta Milan.

“The player did well, many offers arrived. We were close to signing with Milan, then Chelsea arrived, and we went there.”
