There’s been a transfer rumour about Matteo Darmian in the Italian media almost every week for well over a year. A whole string of clubs have been strongly linked with the Manchester United fullback and the strongest recent claims have been with Juventus.
Darmian is reported to have given his approval to the summer transfer, and now all that’s left is Manchester United and Juventus coming to agreement over a fee.
In Italy they don’t seem to feel that’s such a huge obstacle, with Tuttosport this week pointing out there’s good relations between the two clubs.
This week Darmian has also spoken and made it clear he’s flattered by any Juventus interest.
That’s obviously been taken as a further hint the transfer is a likelihood and Gazzetta dello Sport report in their Wednesday edition that Darmian ‘will almost certainly’ be moving this summer.
For the player, his current club, and wherever he’s going, an early deal would be beneficial.
Manchester United need to bring fullbacks in and they could do with sorting out the Darmian issue first.
