After Monday’s news that Arthur Masuaku had returned to England after being unhappy with the way the DR Congo international camp was organised, another West Ham defender has made his way back to London prematurely, but for a different reason.
According to Dakar92.com, relaying a release from the Senegalese FA vice-president Cheikh Seck, Cheikhou Kouyaté was allowed to leave the national team and go home due to illness.
The West Ham defender was diagnosed with the flu, and instead of hanging around, was put on a flight back to England, via Le Havre, in order for him to recover.
Kouyaté has become a vital part of West Ham’s team since his transfer from Anderlecht back in 2014, and has been a regular under David Moyes this season, making 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and picking up two assists.
