Sturm Graz midfielder James Jeggo has confirmed to the Austrian media he’s been offered a contract extension by his club, but remains undecided if he’ll stay.

The 26 year old has been linked with Leeds United in recent months, along with Middlesbrough and Hull City.

Speaking to FourFourTwo Austria, Jeggo was asked about reports he’s been offered a new deal by Sturm Graz: “The club’s spoken to me and wants to re-sign me, there’s an offer there if I want to take it. But we’ll see.

“With any player when you do well you want to try and take that next step and everyone has ambitions to play at the highest level possible.”

In November we covered reports that Leeds United are monitoring the situation with Jeggo, with his club conceding the player could leave Sturm Graz.

At the time the central midfielder hadn’t been offered a contract extension by the Austrian club, even though several of his teammates had.

Leeds United can now speak to Jeggo with regards to a pre-contract agreement, and there’s a possibility they can land him on a free transfer this summer.

It seems from the player’s comments he may be ready for a new challenge, and a move to England could be an option.
