While it’s not big news in the United Kingdom, Simone Verdi’s decision to reject a January move to Napoli has been both questioned and admired in equal fashion.

Turning down the chance to potentially win a Serie A title, the Bologna forward could still end up elsewhere in the summer, and there’s every chance it could be abroad.

Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday report the forward is keen on an experience outside of Italy, and a couple of Premier League clubs (Arsenal and West Ham) are ‘monitoring’ him.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen West Ham linked with the 25-year-old, with TuttoMercatoWeb reporting an interest twice before, once in March and the other in September of last year.

As for Arsenal, the Gunners could end up having to find more attacking reinforcements once the probable departures of Alexis Sanchez (for whom they’ll probably be getting Henrikh Mkhitaryan) and Mesut Özil take place.

Bologna would require a fee of around €25m for their star, a fee Premier League sides could easily match if they so desired.

Simone Verdi’s versatility (he can play across the front three) is certainly a plus for any club, and it wouldn’t be surprising if we ended up with a nice battle for his services come June.

Will West ham and Arsenal be involved? Time will tell.
