When Antonio Conte said he understands that players may want to leave Chelsea in order to guarantee a World Cup spot for their national teams, a part of the Brazilian media wondered if this was a message for David Luiz, who’s been linked with a move out of Stamford Bridge.
But it turns out that other outlets continue saying that the defender is not leaving Chelsea in the January window. And that’s the case of Globo Esporte.
The website had already claimed the Blues don’t want him to go, despite what they describe as a bad relationship with manager Antonio Conte. And now they say the decision is upheld.
David Luiz is said to be liked by Chelsea’s board and Roman Abramovich, and they don’t want him sold, especially after the good season he had in the last title winning campaign.
The website confirms there are clubs interested in him, not mentioning an approach from Barcelona that was previously reported in the Brazilian media.
But with Chelsea’s order for him to stay, David Luiz will have to sit and wait for his chance, at least while Antonio Conte is in charge of the squad.
