Husqvarna FF midfielder Peter Gwargis has told the Swedish media there’s been interest from foreign clubs to sign him, but he feels he’s in the right place at the moment.
The 17 year old has been linked with a move to Southampton in the Swedish press.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, the Southampton target was asked about the interest from other clubs, and committing himself to Husqvarna: “It feels great, I’m very happy to take the next step in my career. It’s true that there were alternatives from abroad and in Sweden. But I made it clear that I wanted to stay in Sweden.”
Fotboll Direkt claimed Southampton are one of the clubs which has been monitoring the young midfielder, along with European heavyweights Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.
Gwargis is seen as a good prospect for the future, and Southampton’s Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester City have also been keeping an eye on the Swede.
All three English clubs have looked to Sweden in past years in recruiting players.
French side Bordeaux are the latest club to show an interest in Gwargis say the Swedish football outlet.
