Ivan Marcano’s situation at Porto continues being the subject of several stories in Portugal, as the player’s future seems far from decided.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, there’s still no sign he’ll renew his contract with the Portuguese side, and that’s just feeding rumours of a departure, with Everton being one of the possibilities mentioned over the past week.
Today, A Bola has a short story about the case, basically saying the speculation is growing because of the January market approaching. That goes without saying, and with Everton linked in the last market, that’s a good enough reason for them to be dragged back in this time.
They credit the Italian press when taking a few quotes from Marcano’s agent. But we’ve dug a little to find out that they actually come from Portugal, and A Bola, as usual, don’t like crediting their compatriots.
Speaking to Desporto Ao Minuto on Friday, Inaki Ibanez said: “I don’t comment on news that comes out in the newspapers, such as rumours and comments… Even because they do not interest me. I respect everyone but I don’t talk about that kind of news.”
The representative also claimed that they “don’t rule out any possibility” for next season.
Everton, Inter Milan and Valencia all continue being mentioned in the stories, even though there’s the chance of staying at Porto.
The Toffees are considered as one of the clubs who have the better conditions to offer a good salary to the defender.
