Someone in Italy, perhaps someone with close links to a manager, really wants Walter Mazzarri to be seriously linked with the Everton job.
At the beginning of the month there were claims in Italy that Everton had already initiated contact with Mazzarri about potentially taking over from Ronald Koeman, who was then still very much in the job.
Then in mid October there was another Mazzarri to Goodison Park claim, the manager was being ‘courted’ by Everton.
Not wasting any time, on Monday afternoon TMW claim an exclusive reiterating Mazzarri has been contacted by Everton, but saying the manager may be holding out for the AC Milan job.
Everton fans certainly wouldn’t be thrilled with Mazzarri and the idea the former Watford manager is playing the club off against West Ham, Leicester City and AC Milan is almost impossible to believe.
The desperation to throw Mazzarri into every story and talk interest in him up is becoming increasingly transparent.
