Fenerbahce have accepted an offer of €11.5m from West Bromwich Albion to sign Josef de Souza, report NtvSpor.
After West Brom’s improved offer to cover Souza’s loyalty bonus and a better payment upfront, Fenerbahçe have accepted the bid for the Brazilian. The 28 year is now expected to sign for West Brom in the coming days.
Hürriyet have also reported what happened between Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim and Souza, when West Brom’s interest in the defensive midfielder emerged last week.
According to the Turkish newspaper, Yildirim rejected West Brom’s first offer after the recent Genclerbirligi game, because of the poor performance of midfielder Mehmet Topal . Yildirim thought Souza could do a much better job than Topal, and wanted the player to remain at the club.
However, Souza was so desperate to get a move to West Brom he even cried in front of Yildirim to allow the transfer. Yildirim changed his stance, and has now accepted the latest West Brom bid.
Souza also spoke with Fenerbahce manager Aykut Kocaman and made it clear he would love to go to West Brom. During that meeting Hurriyet claim Souza made it clear he was unhappy over the rejected bid, but it seems the South American has got this own way.
