According to TMW, Bologna have held talks to discuss the signing of Newcastle United defender Achraf Lazaar.
The Morocco international looks surplus to requirements at St James Park, and the player has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.
TMW claim Lazaar’s agent has held discussions with the sporting director of Bologna, Riccardo Bigon, about a move to the Serie A side.
It’s been reported there could be an update as early as this evening to whether there’s a possibility Lazaar will be signing for Bologna, and it’s unlikely Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez will stand in the player’s way.
The Newcastle United player has been linked with a return to Italy in this transfer window, following his spell with Palermo. Lazaar joined Newcastle United from the Sicilian club last summer, but the move hasn’t worked out for the 25 year old.
Lazaar only featured 10 times for Newcastle United last season, and an exit this summer would be no surprise. The right back needs to find a club which can give him more playing time, and a return to Serie A seems his best option.
