It seems that André Carrillo’s move from Benfica to Watford is pretty much done. All the Portuguese papers are confirming the player flew to London last night, and after doing his medical, the official announcement will be a matter of time.

We’ve already covered a story from O Jogo this morning which confirms things are happening, and now we’re back with the article from A Bola which gives a few more details on the transfer.

Besides paying €1m for the loan deal, Watford will be responsible for the player’s full salary, which is €2m after tax. And at the end of the season, there is the €20m buying option, a bit higher than expected, as the Portuguese press had been saying €15m.

They say that the work permit, which had turned out to be a problem in the past week and was only solved yesterday, was achieved with the help of the Peruvian FA.

Carrillo didn’t have enough national team appearances in the past two years to fulfil the requirements, but his home country association worked on explaining that the reason for that was the injuries he had in this period.

Marco Silva’s insistence on signing the winger is said to have been crucial for the Watford transfer to happen. Carrillo even rejected a first approach, but after seeing he wasn’t being called up for the Benfica games and getting to know the manager’s will to sign him, he decided to take the chance.

It’s up to him to convince Watford he’s worth €20m now.
