Leeds United ran out comfortable winners in their EFL Cu clash with Newport Country on Tuesday night, even though the squad has been hit by injuries in key positions.

However, despite these injury woes for Thomas Christiansen there was still no place for Souleymane Doukara, and this is likely to put further doubt on his future with the club.

Doukara could leave before the window closes, and has been linked with other clubs in recent days.

Yesterday we covered reports from Turkey that Doukara is on the verge of a move to Osmanlıspor, as the Turkish side looks to bring in a forward.

It was claimed the Turkish side are ‘in final stages of negotiations’ with Leeds United, and a transfer ‘will be announced shortly’.

With the injury to Caleb Ekuban, Christiansen gave hints Doukara would be involved against Newport Country.

“He’s a player at Leeds United and he will be available. Right now he is (part of the squad). We will see what will happen in the next few days. He hasn’t played but he’s been training every day in a good rhythm and at a good intensity.”

Despite these comments from the Dane, he drafted in fringe players, but there was still no place for the Senegalese, even though Christiansen is currently short of centre forwards.

The Leeds United boss instead brought in Eoghan Stokes from the U23s, and Doukara’s exit looks close.
