On Tuesday, in the middle of the William Carvalho saga, the English press came out saying West Ham have turned their attention to Porto’s Danilo Pereira after seeing the negotiations with Sporting go cold.

There’s no need to say it had an immediate impact in the Portuguese press, with a few newspapers covering the news today. One of them is A Bola, who aren’t too confident that West Ham could find a deal so easily.

The outlet makes it clear that Danilo wouldn’t be available for the same price as Carvalho, who West Ham are struggling to sign for £31m, as Sporting demand €40m, according to The Mirror.

A Bola recalls that Danilo has a €60m release clause, and since Porto are not keen on letting him go this summer, they find the transfer very unlikely.

It was William Carvalho who held the defensive midfield starting spot during the Euro 2016 campaign last year, but Danilo’s star has risen and with that so has his price.

If West Ham are worried about money, moving from Carvalho to Danilo makes zero sense.
