Hull City have just gained some competition for the signing of Marvin Zeegelaar from Sporting CP.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola today, Turkish side Göztepe SK are also interested in the left-back, and would be willing to pay his full wages during a one year loan.
The problem for the Super Lig side is that Sporting are not very keen on loaning the player, as their intention is to offload him for good, so they don’t have to find him a new destination again next summer.
Considering the reports from this Wednesday, it seems Hull City’s offer is still much better. Newspaper O Jogo claimed the Tigers were offering the player a salary of €500k – much more than the one he earns in Portugal – and would also pay Sporting €500k for the loan.
The Portuguese side are said to be demanding €5m for the permanent move.
It will be interesting to see Sporting’s reaction before the end of the transfer window.
In case no clubs show up wanting to pay the fee for an immediate permanent transfer, the Lions will have to give up and send Zeegelaar out on a loan deal, otherwise they will be paying wages for a player who’s not in the manager’s plans.
Hull City will be waiting.
