Manchester City have now made two offers for Benjamin Mendy, report L’Equipe in their Friday edition.
The first offer arriving at AS Monaco from the Etihad was for €40m, flatly refused by the French principality club, so there was a little wait, and then City returned on Thursday with a second offer of €45m.
Guess what happened? Yes, flatly refused.
Even L’Equipe think €45m is a ‘colossal amount’ for the fullback, but with Monaco wanting something ‘exceptional’, it clearly wasn’t colossal enough.
Not to be discouraged, and probably wanting to please Pep Guardiola, Manchester City are set up to make a third offer. It could be a final decisive offer, ponder L’Equipe, although 
the amounts are unknown.
So what does the French newspaper think would move an offer from colossal to exceptional? A figure of €50m is said to be ‘highly symbolic’, and that could include bonuses.
