Thursday saw two contract renewal announcements from AS Monaco. Kamil Glik has extended until 2021 and Djibril Sidibé has gone a year further to 2022.
In their Friday edition, L’Equipe take a look at the double renewal, and point out that Tottenham Hotspur have played their part in it.
Impressed by Monaco in the Champions League, as they pushed Tottenham to the side, Mauricio Pochettino, if L’Equipe are to be believed, set his eyes on two of the club’s players.
Glik and Sidibe.
Whilst Tottenham had been attracted by both players, it’s claimed that Sidibe was of particular interest, given Kyle Walker is likely to leave the London club soon.
But, blowing a big raspberry in the face of Tottenham, Monaco managed to get both players renewed on the same day, making transfers to Spurs even unlikelier than they were beforehand.
There’s every chance Tottenham interest is being exaggerated by L’Equipe, in order to shine Monaco’s apple a little more, and give the Ligue 1 club a big win over Spurs.
