The injury sustained by Erik Lamela last season has put a bit of a question mark on his future at White Hart Lane/Wembley for the upcoming campaign, and it’s no surprise we’ve seen a few wide players being linked with Spurs.

The first of the bunch was of course Riyad Mahrez, and it was only a matter of time before players who are refusing to renew contracts got linked with a move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The latest of the bunch appears to be Lazio’s Keita Baldé, who has made it clear he would like a transfer this summer, seemingly holding out for a move to Juventus over anything else.

This is why, according to Il Messaggero, the player reportedly turned down a move to Tottenham, who are suggested to have had a bid of around €30-35m accepted by Lazio.

Joining Spurs in the camp of teams rejected by the Senegal international are Everton and Napoli, with the latter of the two less surprising considering Lorenzo Insigne’s and Dries Mertens’ importance to the team, both signing new deals recently.

Of course, there would be no guarantees Pochettino would be able to hand him regular first-team football either considering the form Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen have been in recently.

Then again, nor would Juventus, with Max Allegri seemingly very happy with Mario Mandzukic’s output coming in from the left, and the likes of Marko Pjaca already in the squad battling for a spot in the first-team.

There’s plenty of time left in the transfer window, and we’re sure there’s more twists and turns to come regarding the future of Keita Baldé.

Will Tottenham return to be involved once again? We’ll have to wait and see.
