Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa, Diego Carlos, Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause as the central defenders at his disposal.

Konsa has been a regular operating as a centre-back and a right-back. He and Carlos have partnered Torres in the heart of Aston Villa’s defence.

Hause has been sidelined with an injury while Mings has made a handful of appearances since returning to fitness.

The latest claims from the British press have stated Aston Villa are looking at Real Betis’ Diego Llorente. Estadio Deportivo relay and then provide their own take on this case.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side took the 31-year-old from Leeds United in the summer and gave him a deal until 2028. The report states it includes a release clause. They make no mention of the figure, but it isn’t as low as €4m or €5m.

Estadio state the ‘danger, logically exits’, of losing Llorente to Aston Villa. As of now, he and his agents don’t have ‘any news’ from Aston Villa or Real Betis. In addition to this, the Premier League side have made ‘no contact’ with the Andalusian club for a January deal.

Llorente has settled in well at the club. The report indicates Real Betis aren’t considering using him to raise funds.
