Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain could consider a move for Lyon’s Rayan Cherki.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who take a look at the 24-year-old’s future, both for club and country.
He played for France U21 and U23 but not for their senior team. The attacking midfielder is eligible to represent Les Bleus, Italy or Algeria.
Cherki has scored two goals and registered three assists from 11 matches. His ‘promising start’ this season has helped him return to the France U21 squad for this international break.
L’Equipe state PSG could ‘come back’ for Cherki, indicating that they had tried to sign him in the past. They add the player is admired by the Paris club’s advisor, Luis Campos.
Lyon want to hold on to the player until the end of this season, but that won’t be easy. The report claims they will have to sell in the winter market. In other words, they may be forced to sell Cherki or another player.
Cherki’s deal lasts until 2026, and the newspaper claims he’s valued at around €25m. If both Liverpool and PSG are keen, they are expected to battle for him in January.
