Manchester City have been credited with interest in Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi recently by the English and Spanish media.
Sport have relayed these claims and provide their take on this case. Their title says the 25-year-old is Manchester City’s ‘objective’ for the winter market.
Manchester City star Rodri suffered a serious knee injury in September and will be on the sidelines for most part of this season.
The Premier League winners have struggled in his absence, losing their last four matches in all competitions. They will try to sign a new midfielder in January, to minimise Rodri’s injury blow.
Zubimendi will take Rodri’s place in the national team and can also do that at the Etihad by securing a big move to Manchester City. His €60m clause shouldn’t be a concern for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Sport claim that at this point in time, La Real’s midfielder hasn’t made a firm decision over his future. Therefore, Manchester City have to wait and find his intentions.
In other words, it’s entirely up to Zubimendi to decide whether he wants to leave Real Sociedad for the English champions.
