When it rains, it pours, and Manchester United find themselves stuck in the middle of a deluge at this moment in time.
Everything about them is being analysed, critiqued and questioned and AS have decided to get in on the game via a look at midfielder Maxi Oyedele.
The newspaper cover the midfielder today after Real Betis’ clash with Legia Warszawa and label him ‘another Manchester United blunder’.
They explain that United let the defensive midfielder go this summer for ‘almost nothing’ after deciding he wasn’t a part of their long-term plans.
Unlike them, though, he was not given his chance by Erik ten Hag and so was moved on, electing to head to Poland this summer.
That’s proven to be a smart choice for the 19-year-old, who has seen his ‘expectations and his price’ multiplied by the minute. Having barely played 100 minutes, he’s making a big impression and has now received his first call-up to the Poland national team.
A month ago, he was still playing for the U-20s but a rapid rise since leaving Manchester United has changed that drastically.
That’s raised questions about why Manchester United would have let him go and particularly for a low, almost nothing fee as well.
Legia Warszawa won’t mind of course, and neither will the player, who appears to have taken his opportunity with both hands and could be set to join the list of recent Manchester United transfer regrets.
