Remo Freuler had a season-long stint at Nottingham Forest in the 2022/23 season and arrived at the club after regularly playing in European competitions at Atalanta.
After his exit from Nottingham Forest, Freuler is once again playing in Europe this season with Bologna. He joined the side on an initial loan deal, but it was made permanent last season.
While Thiago Motta has left and things have been progressing slowly under Vincenzo Italiano, the situation seems much more promising for the midfielder than it did in England.
In a chat with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Switzerland international spoke about his move to Bologna and how he feels about it.
He insisted that given the choice to swap Nottingham Forest for Bologna again, he’d make the same decision.
“A fantastic group has been created. Not only on the pitch but also off it, at dinner, for an aperitif meeting up with young and old.
“I have learned this special cohesion here and I am happy to have returned to Italy and to have chosen Bologna. And I would do it again. Of course I would do it again”.
Freuler also spoke about playing in the Champions League this season, with a match against Liverpool this week.
“We are still that team which has that hunger and with the Champions League here, I, for example, don’t want to stop seeing the joy in the eyes not only of my teammates but above all of the fans.”
The 32-year-old has been a regular at Bologna since his move to the club, which is one of the reasons he’s happy to have made the move from Nottingham Forest, where he’d started to be edged out of the picture.
