Porto striker Evanilson is set to miss their upcoming trip to the Azores as he negotiates a move to Bournemouth.
That’s according to Renascenca, who cover comments from Porto boss Vítor Bruno regarding the striker today.
The Porto boss was speaking at a press conference ahead of the clash with Santa Clara, when he confirmed that Evanilson will be missing from the squad.
He is reportedly in negotiations with Bournemouth as they look to secure a replacement for Dominic Solanke, and Bruno confirmed he’s out of the squad this weekend.
“It is always shocking, 24 hours before the game, to lose such an influential player. The numbers he has had since he came to FC Porto… we are talking about 60 goals, almost 20 or 30 assists, with 40 games per season, even with some injuries that often conditioned him.”
“[Evanilson] is missed, but those who are here and who will have to respond will be missed more.”
The question is whether the striker has been left out of the squad because his move to Bournemouth is close to being completed.
A report earlier today indicated that the Cherries were doing everything they could to get their man, even potentially paying as much as €47m if commissions involved in the deal are covered by them.
His absence would suggest that the deal is progressing and now none of the parties are taking a risk with him to ensure all goes smoothly in the coming days.
