French side Rennes may be regretting their decision to turn down a €50m offer from Newcastle United for Martin Terrier, with them unlikely to get anything near that figure this summer.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the forward could be set to depart in the coming weeks and months as part of a great upheaval at the club.
After four seasons it would not be surprised if the 27-year-old were to depart as he considers himself at the end of a cycle and is open to moving on.
Newcastle offered €50m for the forward at that point in time, more than €10m made up of bonuses, but Rennes wanted more and turned it down. Now the prices around him will ‘inevitably be lower’ after just eight goals in 35 games last season.
Whether Newcastle would be in the picture seems unlikely, with them not having returned after that initial effort and their forward line now more than well stocked with the likes of Antony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak.
They’re certainly not regretting their offer being turned down, something we’re sure cannot be said of Rennes.
