With Jürgen Klopp about to have his farewell at Liverpool, ESPN Brasil today shares a special story about the manager.

The outlet recently held a very long interview with Reds’ goalkeeper Alisson, and now features an entire part where the player talks about his boss.

It was Klopp who was in charge of the club when Liverpool decided to invest €62.5m on the signing of Alisson from AS Roma in the summer of 2018.

The goalkeeper recalled the coach’s influence in his arrival at Anfield, claiming they soon managed to create a great friendship.

“Klopp has had a huge impact on my career,” he said.

“He’s the guy who gave me all this, to be able to experience everything I’ve experienced in recent years in football, to reach this high level, to get to where I’ve got to, to achieve what I’ve achieved.”

“He was the guy who opened the doors for me, because Liverpool gave me these achievements. I have a very good relationship with him. We share the same beliefs, our world view is practically the same and even our view of football, so I think that makes it easier to get along with him.”

Alisson brought a few more details on why the two get along so well, and recalled that Klopp was by his side in some of the toughest moments he had at Liverpool.

“I believe in what he believes in. So what he asks for, not just for me, but for the players here, is the rule, because we believe in what he says,” he added.

“We’ve seen it work, and when you see it work, you want to do it again, you know that what he’s saying is best for the group.”

“He’s a guy who, personally, has helped me a lot in difficult times. When I lost my father, he was a guy who was by my side very closely.

“So the respect, affection and admiration I have for him is very great. Unfortunately his time here at Liverpool is coming to an end, but that’s life. Not everything lasts forever”.”

Since then, the duo had great achievements together, including a Champions League, a Club World Cup, a Premier League, a UEFA Supercup, two League Cups and an FA Cup.

Klopp is set to leave Liverpool after 489 games in charge, and Alisson will surely miss his old boss in the coming years.
