Catalan newspaper Sport believe that Lucas Perez is a reasonable target for Espanyol this summer, and explain the Barcelona club have already registered their interest in the player.
Sport state Espanyol aren’t the only Spanish club to have registered an interest with Arsenal, and Perez should have several options this summer if he’s looking to leave Arsenal, and if Arsene Wenger allows the exit.
Perez’s goalscoring record at Arsenal is impressing several Spanish clubs, despite the player not having the minutes he’s used to. With World Cup 2018 appearing on the horizon, it’s thought Perez would look kindly towards a move to give himself the best chance of being involved with the Spanish squad.
Any move is likely to be a loan, report Sport, and that’s where it may be difficult for Espanyol and other interested clubs. Perez hasn’t been an Arsenal disaster, there doesn’t need to be a rush to get him out, so there’s no need to subsidise his wages.
Arsenal would surely have to be persuaded by a club paying both a loan fee and all of the player’s wages, which could be beyond Espanyol.
