João Cancelo isn’t expected to return to Manchester City at the end of the season.
That’s according to his agent Jorge Mendes, who this week gave a long interview to Portuguese newspaper Record.
The representative talked about many of his clients, and the chat about the Manchester City player started when the outlet asked about João Félix’s future at Barcelona.
They began by asking whether the Atlético Madrid loanee will stay at the Camp Nou.
“Barcelona want to keep him permanently,” said Mendes.
“Also. Like Bernardo Silva, he’s the best in the world in his position.”
It’s clear that Pep Guardiola doesn’t want Cancelo at Manchester City, as the fullback had previously been loaned out to Bayern Munich, and was sent to Barcelona last summer.
The agreement does not include a buying option, so the clubs must now sit and decide at what financial level a permanent transfer could be negotiated.
It’s been said that by the Catalan media that Manchester City want at least €25m for his sale, but with Barcelona knowing he’s not wanted at the club, they’ll obviously use that as an advantage to push the price down.
