Leading up to the summer transfer window back in March, reports emerged that Arsenal were taking an interest in Julian Brandt once again.
Nothing came of them, as the player renewed his contract at Borussia Dortmund and stayed put, but reports in England have tried to rekindle them.
Eurosport in Germany take a look at the situation on Monday, and almost laugh off the idea that the key player could be on the move to Arsenal, or any other club, in the January transfer window.
They recall his recent extension, and while he did attract attention with his performances last year, a move remains unlikely.
This is all despite English clubs being ‘very wealthy, but waving tons of money in front of the German side doesn’t always work.
Dortmund are in a strong financial position and have the 27-year-old’s contract until 2026 as leverage in any potential talks, meaning that a move to Arsenal in January seems ‘out of the question’.
Instead, any transfer cards ‘will be reshuffled in the summer’, suggesting that a move in 2024 is far more likely than in the coming months.
