David De Gea is still looking for a new club after his Manchester United contract expired at the end of June.
There’s been many clubs mentioned, yet despite that the goalkeeper hasn’t looked close to signing for anyone since he left Old Trafford. Perhaps the reason is a mixture of a lack of clubs coming forward which truly interest De Gea and an issue with wages given what the stopper earned at Manchester United.
As a free agent he’s able to sign for whoever he likes, as long as they have room on their squad list, and that means he’s an option when injuries are picked up.
The latest club to be linked is Real Betis, following an injury to Rui Silva, and with Claudio Bravo still being out.
Estadio Deportivo, the sport newspaper local to Real Betis, has now turned up to dismiss everything. Part of their headline reads ‘from viral rumour to reality’ and then they explain why the move isn’t happening.
The newspaper has heard from ‘more than reliable sources’ that ‘there is no negotiation underway with the Madrid goalkeeper, with his agents or with his entourage. Neither management, advanced or incipient, nor intention to open it’.
As it stands, Real Betis have no interest in signing the former Manchester United goalkeeper, who remains on the lookout for a new club.
