In the past few days, reports from Brazil and Portugal said Tottenham Hotspur are trying to sign Pepê from Porto.
It’s been claimed that Spurs offered €45m up front plus €15m in bonuses to get the winger signed, and with the bid getting turned down by the Dragons, there was expectation of a potential higher proposal.
It turns out that as Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today features a story on Tottenham’s interest, it’s claimed that things aren’t as advanced as reported.
And even in case Tottenham do make that attempt, that wouldn’t be enough for a deal, as the Dragons are only letting Pepê move if his €75m release clause is triggered.
O Jogo confirms that the player’s agent Adriano Spadoto was recently in Paris and London, and among the clubs he met, Spurs were included in the list.
Still, there’s a clear message from Porto that he won’t get sold, as manager Sergio Conceição doesn’t want to lose him, and only a cheque for €75m can change the situation.
