On April 20th, journalist Ignazio Genuardi reported Brighton & Hove Albion are one of the clubs chasing RC Lens’ Facundo Medina.
Operating as a centre-back, he scored three goals and registered five assists from 35 games last season. His fine displays have caught the attention of other clubs and the Ligue 1 side ‘fear’ losing him in the summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the 24-year-old is ‘very popular’ in England, where several of their clubs, including Brighton, watched him in action several times last season.
Roberto De Zerbi wants the Seagulls to bolster their defence next season and the report says they have identified the Argentina international as a target.
It’s claimed Brighton and an unnamed club are ‘very fond of this explosive player’, who is considered one of the best defenders in Ligue 1.
Earlier this year, Lens extended the South American’s deal until 2026. Foot Mercato add Brighton and his other suitors ‘will have to find arguments to convince’ the French club to let go of Medina in the summer.
