Danish newspaper BT report that several clubs made approaches for Kasper Dolberg during the winter transfer window, but Ajax’s sporting director Marc Overmars thanked them all for their interest but said there’d be no chance of a move.

Switching clubs mid-season wouldn’t have made much sense for the 19 year old either, and probably not for clubs looking to buy him. However, the growing competition seems to have led some to try and get ahead of the others and do a winter deal rather than waiting.

BT have published a list of the clubs they say are in the orbit of Dolberg, and it includes some of Europe’s greatest. Everton find their way in, and despite the competition being tough, Goodison Park could be a better destination for Dolberg than most.

Koeman could use his Ajax contacts to help build a knowledge of Dolberg both on and off the pitch, and therefore make the settling in process smoother.

Everton’s competition will be tough, but it’d probably be wrong to rule Koeman out of the race for the very highly rated Ajax striker.
