Chelsea are reportedly one of the many clubs who would be a threat for Fiorentina’s hopes of keeping Federico Bernardeschi in the summer.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Italian club are still to start the talks regarding a new contract for the player, and the current deal expires in 2018.

It should be about time to do so, even if just because of the big interest that Bernardeschi has been attracting. Besides Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are said to be keeping an eye on him.

Fiorentina would be thinking of giving Bernardeschi a release clause, since his current deal doesn’t have one. That could the same as Nikola Kalinić, whose price tag is now of €50m.

So even though Fiorentina are not in a rush for an extension, they must be aware that protecting the player during the transfer market will be hard. It shouldn’t be a surprise to see Bernardeschi with a new contract before the end of the season, because La Viola have a pretty good idea of the talent their have in their hands.

Calcio Mercato say Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are ready to ‘knock at the door’ with an ‘astonishing’ offer.
