Italian side Venezia presented today their new signing Aaron Connolly after the striker arrived on a loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion, and is staying in Italy until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old had a word with the local media, and discussed the challenge of joining a new league at this stage of his career.
Connolly claimed to be excited to play in the Italian second division, and mainly talked about how his game style can be adapted to Italian football.
“The level of Italian football is very high, both from a technical point of view and from the point of view of intensity: I have already had proof of this in these days of pre-season. Many footballers play here and I look forward to meeting them as opponents,” Connolly told the local media (via Tutto B).
Connolly joined Brighton’s academy back in 2016 and made his way up to the first team.
Despite having loan spells at other English sides, he still holds a record of 52 appearances for the Seagulls, with eight goals and three assists.
It was in January that Brighton last decided to give him more experience somewhere else, and then he was sent to Middlesbrough, where he made 21 appearances and scored two goals.
Now there’s a new chance to prove himself at Venezia and, perhaps, get another chance at the Amex.
