Since John Textor started the process of buying Botafogo, he’s never hidden his wish of signing Edinson Cavani from Manchester United.
Since the striker’s contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season and he has a well known wish of returning to South America, that was seen as a possible dream for the Rio de Janeiro side.
However, according to an update featured today by O Globo, Botafogo are having a hard time in the talks with the Manchester United striker.
O Globo have. two versions of what should happen now.
First, someone at Botafogo has already said they have given up on the signing.
However, a person ‘linked to Textor who takes care of the talks’ is said to be waiting for an official answer from the Manchester United player this Friday. It’s said a new approach in the future isn’t ruled out either.
The Rio de Janeiro side are just one of the Brazilian clubs who are interested in Cavani, as the likes of Corinthians and Palmeiras have been linked as well.
However, recent reports said the Manchester United striker may have more attractive offers from Spain and United States.
