Manchester United are ‘pushing’ Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele and his agent to accept their offer and join the club on a free next summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say United have been ‘working for some time’ to secure the Frenchman’s signature.
Dembele is out of contract at the Nou Camp next summer and, so far, hasn’t signed a deal to extend his stay beyond that.
Barcelona are working as hard as they can to change that but, at this moment in time, he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs in Europe in January and leave on a free next summer.
Manchester United have been heavily linked; as a result, having been keen on the forward for a number of years and tried to sign him on more than one occasion.
They remain determined to try and get him now, and Mundo report that they are ‘pushing’ the player and his agent to get him to accept their offer.
They’ve been ‘working for some time’ to convince him to join on a free transfer, and Dembele has made it clear he is very keen on the move as well.
Barcelona, though, are not giving up without a fight, and new manager Xavi, president Joan Laporta and even Dani Alves are all working to convince him to sign a new deal and stay at the club.
That’s left Dembele, who ‘already saw himself’ at Manchester United, hesitating and unsure what to do.
Time is running out for Barcelona to get a deal signed before January, however, with Manchester United pushing hard to convince Dembele to accept their offer and move to the Premier League.
