Fenerbahçe are wanting to extend Jeremain Lens’ loan deal from Sunderland, according to Fanatik. Their player has become indispensable in a very short time, Lens’ influence on the pitch for Fenerbahçe is quite sensational this season and his performances helped him regain his place in Danny Blind’s national side.
Fanatik say Fenerbahçe plan to start the discussions during the winter window and the Turkish club believes Lens’ current form will be the pivotal factor in their bid to get him one more year out of Sunderland.
Lens wants to continue at Fenerbahçe, he’s said it himself, and the 28 year old believes he’ll be on the plane for the World Cup 2018 if his performances continue as they are. Of course, the Netherlands would have to qualify first.
Fenerbahçe’s board will reportedly offer Sunderland another one year loan deal with the same terms but the English club’s answer is unknown currently.
Lens recently said he’s happy at Fenerbahçe and will want to play for the amazing fans as long as possible. Fenerbahçe board believes Lens’ determination to stay at club will be a big factor and their fans are certainly hoping their Dutch star will stay for many more seasons.
Sunderland have some power here. It’s probably too late for Moyes to take Lens back in the summer, the player sounds like he’s done with the club. However, quite why Sunderland should agree to another loan is unclear, a permanent sale would suit them far better.
Lens has so far played 12 league games for Fenerbahçe, scoring 2 and assisting 4 goals.
