Aymen Abdennour has been linked to Everton since the summer. The Premier League club reportedly made the first approaches during the summer window, and the rumours have sporadically appeared since.

But according to Deporte Valenciano today, the Spanish side have just turned down a €45m offer from a Chinese club for the defender. Valencia reportedly think they could get more money in a deal.

That would be bad news for both Everton and Olympique Marseille if it were believable. But, just like the claims of big Everton bids during the last window, this claim doesn’t really stand up.

Deporte Valenciano claims that the player still has offers from the clubs mentioned, including Everton, but doesn’t want to leave Valencia for now.

Abdennour isn’t an indispensable player for Valencia. He’s only important when the team uses a three-man defensive line, so they simply wouldn’t turn down a bid of even half of what is being claimed in the media local to the club.

If Everton really want him, if they ever wanted him, then a deal would be pretty easy to do, whatever the Valencia media says.
