Kasper Dolberg: Man City keeping an eye on him
It’s you’re Danish there’s a pretty good chance that Kasper Dolberg already feels part of the family.
There’s been a lot of hype around the youngster for some time but a good start to the season for Ajax saw that rise and a Danish squad call-up sent things into the stratosphere.
Ahead of the 19 years old’s international debut there were countless Danish articles proclaiming Europe’s latest wonderkid, and there’s a huge excitement in the country about Dolberg’s future.
The Danish love a wonderkid, and after players like Christian Eriksen and Viktor Fischer, Kasper Dolber is latest ‘new Michael Laudrup’.
The pressure of a million Danish press words didn’t weigh too heavily on Dolberg when he scored a hat-trick at the weekend for Ajax, but it’s of course only served to up the ante in Denmark.
On Thursday both BT and Ekstra Bladet, Danish newspapers, have Dolberg on their sport cover. Ekstra Bladet are taking a look at the talent brought through the Ajax academy, an incredibly impressive list, and BT have got something of a scoop.
A brilliant front page show Dolberg on a radar… and it’s a radar belong to Manchester City. BT say Dolberg is on Pep Guardiola’s agenda, and they can back that up.
Manchester City scout Sebastian Arnesen is quoted as saying: “We keep a very close eye on him, and when the time is right we’ll make a decision on whether we should act on it.”
Arnesen, the son of Frank, added: “He has a huge potential. He is tall, strong, brave and quick. He has an excellent touch, can play with his back to the goal and make the right decisions. And he can finish from anywhere. He is so special, and therefore he is of course also on the radar.”
So it’s pretty clear, Manchester City are well aware of Kasper Dolberg and their interest sounds like it’s building.
