For the past few weeks, we’ve been covering repeat reports from Italy regarding the future of Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik.
The 26-year-old has been linked to several clubs lately, including West Ham United, who have reportedly made an offer for him.
But it seems there’s another Premier League side who recently made an attempt for his signing, and that’s Newcastle United.
The news is given by Vincenzo Morabito, a ‘market operator’ who was interviewed by Radio Kiss Kiss today.
“In the summer we had presented to Napoli an offer from Newcastle for Milik but Napoli replied negatively. Giuntoli said that Napoli would not accept less than 25 million,” Morabito told Radio Kiss Kiss (via Napoli Magazine).
Milik’s problems with Napoli date back to the summer window, when he indeed rejected some offers he had to leave. As a result, he wasn’t registered for the club’s competitions this season.
That’s why his departure in the January transfer window seems obvious, with the Premier League and Ligue 1 being pointed out as the most likely destinations.
He should cost a lot less than the €25m demanded by Napoli in the last transfer window, so perhaps Newcastle would have a new chance in case they’re still interested.
