West Ham United need to bring in a new right-back this summer.
Pablo Zabaleta has exited the club after his contract expired in June and his exit has left David Moyes with Ryan Fredericks as the only recognised right-back in the squad.
According to Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico, the Hammers are interested in Barcelona’s Moussa Wagué.
Two years ago, the 21-year-old arrived in Spain from KAS Eupen and after spending one season with Barca’s B team, he was promoted to their first team squad.
After failing to get regular opportunities in the first half of the season, the Catalan club sent the defender out on loan to OGC Nice in January.
According to Rico, the Senegal international hasn’t met the expectations of Barca’s leaders, which is why he’s now considered ‘transferable’.
He claims the Spanish giants are negotiating with West Ham for the fullback’s transfer, and there are two options to take Wagué.
The first one is to take the player on loan with an option to buy for €16m, and the other option is to sign the African on a permanent deal for €10m.
Rico adds Quique Setién’s side ‘prefer to sell’ Wagué in the upcoming window.
