James Rodríguez could end up at Tottenham Hotspur this summer as a part of Real Madrid’s efforts to sign Harry Kane.
Rodríguez has been put up for sale by Real Madrid, who are keen to move him on as his contract expires next summer and he’s not in Zinedine Zidane’s plans.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with several clubs thought to be keen on taking him.
However, according to Canal CRN, the Colombian could end up at Tottenham as part of a deal for Kane.
Rumours have been circulating that the Tottenham captain could look to move on this summer as he wants to win trophies sooner rather than later.
Real Madrid are interested in him and that ‘could lead to a negotiation’ when James is used as ‘currency’ by the Spanish side to get a deal done.
They argue that after Christian Eriksen left for Inter Milan in January, Spurs need a number ten and their efforts to play Lucas Moura, Dele and Erik Lamela there haven’t worked.
Rodriguez would help fill that gap, although it is believed he will have to ‘revert’ to Mourinho’s system in order to fit his style of play.
Nonetheless, a move to Spurs, where he would meet up with international teammate Dávinson Sanchez, would allow him to kickstart a career that is flagging badly in Madrid.
