Brentford striker Halil Ibrahim Dervisoglu has spoken to Turkish TV channel TRT Spor and given his opinion about the latest developments with the Coronavirus outbreak.
The 20 year old stated the club have cancelled training and they are currently following a programme from their home: “We were training but the club made a decision and we have stopped training. We are working hard to stay fit. It’s a bit complicated at the moment but hopefully, everything will be fine soon.”
Dervisoglu spent the first half of the season on loan at his former club Sparta Rotterdam, before joining Thomas Frank’s side at the start of the year. He made four appearances in all competitions before the Championship stopped due to Coronavirus outbreak.
The Turkey U21 international also shared his thoughts about English football and his future chances. Dervisoglu said the football is very different in England and he’s hoping to get more chances when the league continues: “In England, there’s always attacking and high tempo football.
“I am sure that I have what it takes to play in that type of football and I still need time to adapt properly. I am hoping that I will have more chances when the league restarts.”
Dervisoglu was heavily linked with Trabzonspor, Besiktas and Fenerbahce before his transfer to Brentford, and added he would like to play in the Super Lig at some stage of his career: “Some things are not in my hands. As every Turk I would love to play in Turkey.”
The 20 year old is contracted to Brentford until June 2024.
