Some transfer rumours are more popular with supporters than others, and among the ones we’ve found Manchester City fans like the most is Ruben Dias.
The 22 year old Benfica central defender is already well established and experienced for the Lisbon side, and has pushed his way through to the Portuguese national side.
Manchester City have been repeatedly linked, and in November there was talk of a January swoop the player. That felt unlikely, at least partly because Dias wanted to finish the season with his current club and hasn’t shown signs of getting itchy feet.
Not long after the November claims, Dias renewed his contract, taking his release clause from €66m to €100m.
Despite Benfica losing 3-2 to Porto on Saturday evening, the defender had a good game, and O Jogo report Manchester City had sent an official to watch the match.
He’s the likeliest target for Pep Guardiola’s side, and it’ll be no surprise if City are now continually in attendance at Benfica games.
