Even though Boca Juniors have received a fee from Brighton & Hove Albion to cut short Alexis Mac Allister’s loan spell, the Argentine club are still not happy with the way things were done.
The midfielder joined the La Bombonera side in the summer of 2019, signing a one-year deal. The only clause which would send him back to England in January would be triggered if he didn’t have enough starts at the club.
Mac Allister not only got a place in the team, but became one of Boca Juniors’ best players, and that’s what caught Brighton’s attention to bring him back earlier than expected.
The Seagulls had to find an agreement with the Argentine side, and despite having their first bid rejected, the second offer was accepted, with the player leaving Buenos Aires six moths before expected.
“It makes me sad, I talked to his father. To accept the Brighton offer, we received a signed note from the boy who wanted to leave,” he said.
“It shouldn’t happen anymore, I had no option to buy. Boca put on the shirt, showcase. They said he wanted to stay, then signed a document that he wanted to leave. They are irregularities that cannot happen.”
